Authentic Materials
The authenticity of our lamp bases begins with the meticulous construction of bourbon barrels, crafted from high-quality American white oak. Each barrel is assembled using traditional techniques, where the staves are carefully shaped and joined together using the tongue and groove method, then secured with metal hoops. The interior of the barrels undergoes a charring process, which not only enhances the flavor of the bourbon but also imparts a distinct character to the wood. When repurposing these barrels into lamp bases, this rich history and craftsmanship are preserved, providing a unique foundation for our designs. Paired with authentic bourbon bottles, each lamp becomes a piece of functional art, embodying the heritage and craftsmanship of both the distillers and the barrel makers. This commitment to authenticity ensures that every BourbonLIT lamp is not just a source of light but a conversation piece that adds a touch of bourbon history to any space.

Charred Lamp Bases from Bourbon Barrels
The charring of bourbon barrels is a critical step in bourbon production, involving the exposure of the barrel’s interior to intense flames for a controlled period. This process, which typically lasts between 15 seconds to a minute, burns the inner surface of the oak barrel, creating a layer of char. The charred layer plays a crucial role in filtering impurities and imparting complex flavors such as caramel, vanilla, and smokiness to the bourbon. After charring, the barrels are cooled and inspected for quality before being filled with new-make spirit, allowing the aging process to begin and the bourbon to develop its distinctive character.
